Duct Sealing

Duct sealing closes the leaks that dump conditioned air into your attic, cutting comfort and raising your power bill.

Duct sealing closes the gaps, loose joints and failed tape in your ductwork so the air your system conditions actually reaches your rooms. In a typical home a meaningful share of conditioned air escapes into the attic before it ever gets to a vent, and in a Phoenix summer that is cooling you paid for and never felt.

Signs your ducts are leaking

  • Rooms that never match the thermostat: one bedroom stays warm while the rest of the house is comfortable.
  • Power bills climbing with no change in habits: the system runs longer to reach the same temperature.
  • Weak airflow at the vents: pressure is being lost before the air arrives.
  • Dust that keeps coming back: leaks on the return side pull attic dust straight into your air.
  • An attic that feels conditioned: if the attic is cool, your ducts are cooling it.

How duct sealing is done

We inspect the accessible duct runs first, looking for disconnected sections, crushed flex, failed mastic and joints that have pulled apart. Sealing uses mastic and mesh at the joints rather than standard duct tape, which dries out and lets go in attic heat. Where a run is crushed, torn or badly undersized, sealing it is not the answer and we will tell you that rather than sealing a duct that needs replacing.

What you get out of it

Sealed ducts mean more of your conditioned air arrives where you want it, the system runs shorter cycles to hit the same temperature, and rooms even out. It also reduces the attic dust and insulation fibres pulled into the return side, which helps the indoor air quality side of the house.

Duct sealing pairs naturally with a duct inspection, and where the ductwork is past saving, with duct replacement.
